LI-ION BATTERY RECYCLING PLANT
SRT LIBs SWISSRTEC – our contribution to enhance the circular economy and the answer to the energy transition and the switch to electromobility
The LIBs process is swissRTec AG’s contribution to strengthening the circular economy and the answer to the energy transition and the switch to electromobility.
As one of many examples of swissRTec’s innovative strength, swissRTec AG and its partners offer an advanced recycling technology that achieves maximum recovery rates and high purity of the valuable and strategic raw materials contained in the lithium batteries.
In a first step, the battery modules or production waste are shredded in an inert atmosphere, after which the electrolytes are recovered using vacuum contact drying technology. Mechanical separation techniques such as wind sifting, magnets, eddy current separation, sieving and density separation are used to recover black mass and metals.
The benchmark setting Battery Master Mill plays a key role in the process: the black mass is liberated very efficiently, and the non-ferrous metals become spherical. Thanks to this feature, a high yield and a high-quality level of the black mass and metal output fractions are achieved.
To prevent dust emissions and ensure safety, the plant is equipped with dust extraction and explosion protection sys- tems. Sampling points are strategically located throughout the process to continuously monitor the quality of the output.
SWISSRTEC systems are designed in close cooperation with customers and their individual requirements.
